Message At least here in the States, that is.

I don't know if you heard this story recently. We had a Drag Race here about a month ago. Kawasaki was here to drive the Veilside GTR at the IDRC Finals in Palmdale, CA. It had a brand new HKS seq. air shifted tranny. On Saturday during qualifying. One of the crew accidently turned off the CO2 bottle, but the guage still read OK, since the line was presurized. Kawasaki was able to shift up to 3rd gear, then BAM. Bye-bye HKS tranny. Kawasaki was so pissed, but he still got paid for his weekend. I think he get something like $1000/day to drive a race plus prize money. I don't know if you have ever met Kawasaki, but he's quite a character. Most of the HKS USA guys are afraid of him for some reason. He and Shiobara go way back, started racing the same time 20 years ago. He drove for Escort for a while before becoming HKS' Ichiban driver.
